Accounting and tax questions, answered
Straight answers about working with us and Canadian tax basics.
Canadian tax basics
Deadlines and rules worth knowing.
What is the tax filing deadline in Canada?
April 30 for most individuals. Self-employed individuals have until June 15 to file, but any balance owing is still due April 30. Corporations file a T2 six months after their fiscal year-end.
What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?
Bookkeeping records and organizes your day-to-day transactions. Accounting builds on those records to prepare financial statements, file taxes and give advice.
When should I incorporate my business?
It often makes sense once your business earns more than you need to live on, or when you want to limit liability and add credibility. We compare your tax with and without a corporation before recommending it.
What should I do if I received a letter from the CRA?
Do not ignore it. Note the response deadline, gather the documents requested and contact us. We can review the letter and respond on your behalf.
