How we help

Working for yourself means you carry the tax admin too. We prepare your T1 return with the T2125 business statement, claim every legitimate expense and set up simple habits so tax time stops being stressful.

From home office and vehicle expenses to CPP contributions and instalments, we make sure your return reflects how your business really runs. If your revenue is above the small supplier threshold, we also help you register for and file GST/HST.

We can also tell you when it makes sense to incorporate, and what that would mean for your taxes.

Self-employed tax FAQ

Answers to common questions in Ontario.

What expenses can I deduct as a self-employed person?

Generally, expenses you incur to earn business income: supplies, software, advertising, insurance, professional fees, a reasonable share of home office costs and business use of a vehicle. Personal expenses are not deductible, and good records matter.

Do I need to pay tax instalments?

If your net tax owing is more than $3,000 in the current year and in either of the two previous years, the CRA generally requires instalments. We calculate them and remind you of the due dates.

When do I have to register for GST/HST?

You must register once your worldwide taxable revenue passes $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters. You can also register earlier, which lets you recover GST/HST paid on business costs.

How much do self-employed tax services cost?

Fees depend on the scope and complexity of your situation. After a free consultation we give you a clear quote before any work begins.

Do you provide self-employed tax outside Toronto?

Yes. We serve Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Oakville and the wider GTA, and we work with clients across Canada by phone, video and secure online document sharing. Call (647) 527-4970 to get started.
